Biography

Mrs Michaela Smith is a Specialist Neonatal Dietitian and Lactation Consultant with a passion for improving child health through expert, evidence-based nutritional care from the very start of life. Known for her warm, family-centred approach, she works closely with parents to navigate feeding challenges and optimise their child’s growth and development, always striving to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the families she supports.

Michaela specialises in infant feeding and nutrition, offering personalised support in breastfeeding, bottle-feeding, weaning, and early childhood nutrition. Her practice is rooted in the principles of preventative care, helping families establish healthy habits that set the foundation for lifelong wellbeing.

She graduated with distinction from the University of Cape Town in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Physiology and Genetics. Inspired by her growing interest in early-life nutrition, she went on to complete an Honours degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics in 2019, specialising in paediatric and neonatal nutrition as well as lactation support. To further strengthen her expertise, she qualified as a South African Certified Lactation Consultant (SACLC) through WITS University in 2020.

Michaela began her career in South Africa before relocating to the UK, where she has worked at several leading NHS hospitals, including Chelsea and Westminster, Great Ormond Street, and Evelina London.

Her combination of clinical expertise, compassionate care, and commitment to preventative health makes her a trusted advocate for the nutritional wellbeing of infants and young children.
