Dr Pratik Shah is a Consultant in Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London.
Based at The Royal London Children’s Hospital, Dr Shah is internationally recognised for his expertise in congenital hyperinsulinism and rare glucose disorders in children. He holds a PhD in the field of Congenital Hyperinsulinism and leads a highly specialised service dedicated to children with rare and syndromic forms of hypoglycaemia and diabetes.
He has initiated the UK’s first dedicated transition clinics for rare glucose disorders, ensuring continuity of care for young people into adulthood.
In addition to his clinical and research excellence, Dr Shah is a passionate educator.
Dr Shah is a member of Clinical Practice Committee at European Society of Paediatric Endocrinology and is an expert working group member of EuRRECa (European Registries for Rare Endocrine Conditions) for disorders of Glucose and insulin. He is also on the expert panel and committee member for Hyperinsulinism Special interest Group at British Society of Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes. He also serves as a Patron for Hyperinsulinism UK, reflecting his dedication to supporting families living with rare endocrine disorders.
Outside of his professional life Dr Shah enjoys spending time with his family, he is a passionate reader and avid sports enthusiast.
