Tongue-Tie (Ankyloglossia) Release

Some babies are born with a tongue-tie, where a small band of tissue under the tongue is too short or tight. This can make it harder for them to move their tongue properly, which might affect breastfeeding and, later on, could impact speech or oral hygiene. At Mayfair Children’s Clinic, our experienced consultants will assess your baby and, if needed, perform a simple procedure called a frenotomy (or frenulectomy). This involves gently clipping the tight tissue to free up the tongue’s movement. The procedure is very quick and usually causes little to no discomfort, especially for newborns. Most babies can breastfeed right away afterwards. We’ll give you clear aftercare instructions and arrange follow-up checks to make sure your baby is healing well and feeding comfortably. If you have any worries at any time, our team is always here to help.

Infant Circumcision

We provide circumcision services for babies up to 12 weeks of age, performed by our skilled consultant paediatric surgeon in a sterile environment. Circumcision involves the surgical removal of the foreskin and is often chosen for religious, cultural, or medical reasons. Our process includes a thorough pre-procedure assessment to ensure your baby is healthy and suitable for the procedure. Circumcision at our clinic is performed using local anaesthetic to minimise discomfort, and the entire procedure typically takes 10–15 minutes. Parents are provided with clear pre-appointment guidelines and comprehensive aftercare instructions to ensure a smooth recovery. Most babies settle quickly after the procedure and return to normal within 24–48 hours. Our team remains available for follow-up and to address any questions or concerns parents may have during the healing period”
